Where preparation meets passion in the journey to nursing
Survivor. Advocate. Future Nurse.
Survivor. Advocate. Future Nurse.
My name is Ye Linn Htet Aung, and I was born Rohingya in Myanmar — a community that has faced genocide and displacement. For me, survival was never simple. My family and I fled with little certainty of tomorrow, and growing up as a refugee taught me resilience not as a choice, but as the only way forward.
Those experiences left me with more than scars — they gave me purpose. I learned what it feels like to be unseen in a system that’s meant to care, and I promised myself that one day, I would be part of the solution. Nursing became my calling because it allows me to turn my survival into service, to bring compassion and advocacy to patients who are too often overlooked.
This website is where my journey and my purpose meet. It’s my way of sharing not only my story, but also the vision I carry into healthcare.
Here’s what you’ll find here:
About Me → A closer look at my journey from surviving genocide to building a life of resilience, advocacy, and academic excellence.
Blog → Honest reflections on what it means to turn hardship into strength, with stories about leadership, mental health, and healthcare advocacy.
Resources → A growing hub of support for refugees, immigrants, and underserved communities — because no one should have to fight alone for dignity and care.
This site is a reflection of where I’ve been, but more importantly, where I’m going: into nursing, into leadership, and into a future where my story becomes a source of strength for others.
